I'm currently reading Quitter by Jon Acuff.  I've just read an important lesson that really hit home, starting with an anecdote about cleaning a room. Jon, like myself, would usually have a horrendous mess in his room growing up. Instead of clearing the bed then putting things away or some other sort of efficient process, Jon and I would start in a corner and make it immaculate, organizing collectibles, dusting like crazy, and generally paying too much attention to detail. Of course, each of us would end up with a small portion of the room clean at the end of the day instead of an entire room that was passably clean. This would also hamper him in his writing, focusing too much on that last bit of polish to get it perfect.  He says that perfect but still in your head is useless compared to 90% perfect and published. I hope I can take this to heart and get over my fear of sharing something creative. It's just that I know my writing needs rounds and rounds of revision to be good. That and I honestly don't think my story idea is interesting to anybody but me. We'll see how that plays out.  For now, I just want to post something.
